Pretty please don’t make me a baby boomer! I was born in 1940, the last year of the Great Depression. My mama always called me a “war baby” because Europe was already at war by then.
My generation was the last of the “age of innocence,” and the boomers were the first of the “free love” generation.
True, there are only a few short years separating the two, but there is a huge chasm between the outlooks and experiences in the two.
I have memories of wartime, while those born in 1946 have memories only of peace or the Korean War.

I believe it refers to the soldiers returning home from Wars, post WWII and the Koren War. There were a bunch of babies born in those years. I arrived when my dad was in Korea

I think Boomer refers to the years following the War, the people in the armed forces were coming home and getting married, when there was a rise in the baby population, the economy was in the upswing. New housing was being built, to accomodate those new family’s. I know I was born in “47, I will be “60″ in 9 days.
